In our community, the truth is not for sale!
Following our recent reporting which appears to directly conflict with Ben Weber’s claims that he pays property taxes, yet another factual statement is called into question.
This time it is misleading information about Ohio Right to Life endorsements.
These misleading statements are seen by the public as an attempt to fool the voters by omission.
In investigative journalism, we don’t just look at what a candidate says on a debate stage; we look at what they whisper to voters in the “private” space of an inbox. A recent email sent directly from the official campaign address of Ben Weber (info@benweberforohio.com) has revealed a calculated narrative that simply does not align with the public record.
The email, carrying the bold subject line “Only Candidate Backed by Right to Life,” explicitly tells voters: “I am the only candidate in this race that Ohio Right to Life trusts.” By using the word “only,” the Weber campaign isn’t just promoting their candidate—they are engaging in an intentional act of erasure against their opponents.
It also conveniently leaves out the fact that the entity he is backed by is a powerful controversial PAC.
The Digital Breach of Truth
In the 86th District, transparency is a requirement, not a suggestion. When we apply the standard of primary source documentation to Weber’s “exclusive” claim, it collapses.
- The Erasure of Wezlynn Davis: Contrary to the email’s claim, opponent Wezlynn Davis is a formally endorsed “Right to Life” candidate. She holds the backing of the Right to Life Action Coalition of Ohio (RTLACO).
- The Semantic Trap: By using the broad umbrella term “Right to Life” while claiming exclusivity, Weber is capitalizing on voter confusion between two very different organizations.
A Tale of Two Movements: Compromise vs. Conviction
The reason Weber wants voters to believe he is the “only” one is to hide a deep ideological divide within the movement itself—one that reflects a history of political maneuvering.
- The PAC & The History of Compromise: The Ohio Right to Life PAC, which backs Weber, is the establishment arm. Historically, it has been criticized for an incremental approach—or “chipping away” at abortion rights rather than seeking total protection. ORTL famously drew fire from its own founder, Dr. Jack Willke, for its willingness to back “moderate” candidates and its initial opposition to the Heartbeat Bill, which the PAC deemed “too drastic.”
- The No-Compromise Coalition: The RTLACO, which backs Davis, was formed specifically by grassroots activists who were fed up with the PAC’s compromises. They refuse to treat the lives of the unborn as a political bargaining chip for GOP leadership.
Follow the Money: Maxed Out and Big Tech Ties
To understand why Weber is pushing this deceptive “only” narrative, you have to look at the financial “receipts” highlighted by Swamp-Fox at MarionWatch.com. The email deception is fueled by an establishment political machine.
- The “Maxed Out” Elite: Weber’s filings show he is the primary investment for the Columbus donor class. He is heavily supported by “maxed out” donors—high-net-worth individuals and corporate-affiliated PACs contributing the absolute legal limit.
- The Data Center Connection: This establishment funding is deeply tied to the push for data center tax breaks. These facilities consume massive amounts of local water and strain our electrical grid, but they provide millions in exemptions for “Big Tech.” The lobbyists for these industrial giants funnel money through the same establishment PACs that back Weber.
Why This Matters
When a candidate uses their official infrastructure to push a narrative that omits verifiable facts about their rivals, it is a red flag. In IT systems, when core data is corrupted, the system fails. The same applies to our representation.
Ben Weber is using an establishment-funded megaphone to try and drown out the grassroots conviction of his opponents.
He is claiming to be the “Only Candidate” for the movement, but the receipts show he is simply the preferred candidate for the Columbus elite and the data center lobbyists.
Voters in the 86th District deserve the full picture, not a curated deception. The pro-life movement is split, the money is lopsided, and the “Only Candidate” claim is a direct breach of truth.
