COUNTY COMMISSIONER CANDIDATE VS COUNTY SHERIFFReading Mode

So what exactly did Republican candidate for Marion County Commissioner Jason Schaber say during the April 7th commissioner candidate forum that drew the ire of Marion County Sheriff Matt Bayles?

Here’s the question that came from an audience member:

“Can you describe a specific time that you managed a budget exceeding $10 million and how has that experience prepared you to identify the gaps in a much smaller, lean budget in which every dollar is vital? If you managed large budgets, how would you align spending or put in place changes? If you managed small budgets, how would you align spending or put in place changes? Please give your solutions that would fit both scenarios—both short term and long term. The public sector is fat; the private sector is not. Are you willing to make tough decisions?”

I’ve transcribed the response to the question that Mr. Schaber gave during the forum and have also posted Sheriff Bayles’ subsequent Facebook post, as well as Mr. Schaber’s reply to Sheriff Bayles.

Be on the lookout for another post on this topic, as the Swamp Fox will be going through the records to try to figure out the truth to this matter and find out what exactly happened during contract negotiations between the city of Marion and the police and fire unions back in 2010-2011.
