OHIO EPA PROPOSES TO ALLOW DATA CENTERS TO POLLUTE OHIO’S AQUIFERS AND RIVERS IN NAME SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENTReading Mode

If it isn’t clear to you by now that the state of Ohio has been targeted by powerful interests to turn our state into one big resource-draining, environment-polluting industrial hellscape, then you’re probably beyond hope.

Consider this, for example.

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has proposed granting a 5-year permit to data centers so that they are permitted to release harmful wastewater used in the cooling process into our aquifers and rivers–arguing that it’s worth it to pollute our waterways because the social and economic development benefits of data centers outweigh the damage done to our environment.

Honestly, I don’t understand what the social and economic development benefits are. But with 300 or more of these behemoths expected to be constructed in the state of Ohio before 2030, it’s a serious issue of concern.

Most of these data centers pay little or no property taxes.

Most of these data centers–although huge–employ only a small number of workers.

All of these data centers require a ridiculous amount of water and electricity to operate–straining our electric grid and water resources.

All of these data centers produce harmful pollution, the long-term consequences of which haven’t been properly studied.

The lobbyists and their politician puppets have corrupted our EPA. Clearly.

We mustn’t let them get away with this.

Only support those politicians in the upcoming May 5th primary and November 3rd general election who swear to fight for a statewide moratorium on all data center projects.

This is serious, folks. It demands your attention and advocacy.

Here’s the proposed permit from the Ohio EPA:
