Jason Schaber Announces Candidacy for Marion County Commissioner

MARION, Ohio – Jason Schaber, a lifelong Marion County resident with 14 years of Marion City Council service, today announced his candidacy for Marion County Commissioner in the 2026 Republican primary. He is actively collecting signatures for the seat being vacated by Commissioner Mark Davis, who will not seek re-election.

Amid ongoing budget discussions in the county, Schaber brings experience chairing the Finance Committee during his council tenure. A small business owner of Schaber’s Lawn Service. A local farmer whose family has worked the land in Marion County for over 100 years, he is a committed Republican dedicated to conservative values.

“I am running to deliver independent, proven leadership during this time of fiscal scrutiny,” Schaber said. “I will prioritize efficient taxpayer spending, economic and agricultural growth, and community collaboration.”

Fiscal responsibility — Efficient spending to address budget concerns.

Economic and agricultural growth — Job creation and support for our agribusiness heritage.

Community collaboration — More public input and partnerships across jurisdictions.

The Republican primary is May 5, 2026; general election November 3, 2026. Term begins January 1, 2026.
