Statement from Wezlynn Davis for State Representative on Deleted Spears Live 1/17/26Reading Mode

Heart of a mother. Backbone of a leader.

I’m a mom before anything else. Like a lot of families in District 86, I worry about rising costs, government overreach, and whether hard work still matters. I didn’t come from money or connections. Everything I have was built the hard way, and I don’t forget that.

When members of the media start questioning my integrity, voters deserve straight answers—not selective framing or intimidation tactics. Scott Spears has raised a series of questions publicly. I’m going to answer them plainly.

Scott Spears asks: Why does Wezlynn Davis need this much money for her campaign?

Wezlynn Davis says: Because I’m prepared. In the last primary, more than half a million dollars was spent on negative ads attacking me. I learned from that experience. This time, I will not leave my name, my family, or my supporters exposed to last-minute smears. This is not excess—it’s responsibility.

Scott Spears asks: Who benefits if Wezlynn Davis wins?

Wezlynn Davis says: The people of District 86 benefit—because I cannot be bought. I don’t answer to donors, lobbyists, or special interests. I answer to working families, small business owners, parents, and seniors.

Scott Spears asks: If a state legislator only earns $71,000 a year, why does she need $250,000 for her campaign?

Wezlynn Davis says: I am not running for a $71,000 paycheck. I never asked for that salary, and it is not how I support my family. I own and operate my own businesses. I have met payroll, paid taxes, and built something from the ground up. I am running to serve—not to live off a government salary.

Scott Spears asks: How many favors does she have to owe in order to receive $250,000?

Wezlynn Davis says: I owe no one except the people of the 86th District—and I owe them not because of money, but because of their vote and the trust they place in me to serve. This is my money. I’ve got skin in this game. I do not owe favors to donors, insiders, or political machines. I answer only to the people who put me in office.

Scott Spears asks: Is she being transparent?

Wezlynn Davis says: I’m the only candidate in this race who has published campaign finance reports thus far. I’m also the only candidate who has owned a business, paid property taxes, and worked in the private sector. Transparency isn’t a talking point for me—it’s how I live.

I believe in hard work, personal responsibility, and telling the truth even when it’s uncomfortable. I’ve got skin in this game. I answer to the people. And I cannot be bought.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Wezlynn Davis Responds to False Claims About Campaign Financing

DISTRICT 86, OH — False claims have been circulating that my $250,000 campaign contribution is fraudulent. These claims are not true. They were made by Scott Spears, who also threatened that if I did not appear on his show, information about my campaign would be released. This is predatory behavior, and I do not engage with intimidation.

To set the record straight: the $250,000 I’m putting into my campaign is my own money—a personal loan from J&J Capital Group, the business my husband and I built together and named after our children, Jackson and Jozie. I started below the poverty line with no handouts—through grit, hard work, and accountability every single day. I’ve got skin in this game, and I am uncompromised. I cannot be bought—by donors, special interests, or political pressure.

This personal investment reflects my commitment to Ohio families: cutting government red tape, fighting overreach, and making it easier for working families to build security for their kids without bureaucrats or special interests standing in the way. I am accountable only to the people of District 86.

For the record, the proper filing for J&J Capital Group was submitted July 31, 2025; the next filing deadline is January 31, 2026. The references circulating are from the 2024 primary—outdated and irrelevant.

Ohio families deserve leaders with grit, common sense, experience, and integrity to turn challenges into progress. If you’re tired of politicians who talk over you, sell out to special interests, and make life harder for working people, I ask for your vote.

Start where you stand. Build relationships. Stay teachable. Lean into something bigger. Above all, stay rooted in your purpose.
