MAY 5TH REPUBLICAN PRIMARY TO FEATURE A REMATCH OF TWO CANDIDATES FROM 2022 RACE: KEN STIVERSON & JASON SCHABERReading Mode

On the 3rd of May 2022, challenger Mark Davis defeated three-term incumbent Ken Stiverson, as well as another challenger, Jason Schaber, in the Republican primary for Marion County Commissioner.

It was an extremely close election with Davis beating out Stiverson by only 56 votes.

Schaber, who was at the time serving on Marion City Council, was 1,648 votes short of Davis.

As you can see, Davis, a former physician and county coroner, carried the city of Marion and performed well in the county, while Stiverson carried the county and performed less well in the city.

Davis won 31 precincts and tied for first in one, while Stiverson won 31 and tied in two. Schaber, meanwhile, won one and tied in one.

This year’s race will feature a rematch between Stiverson and Schaber, as well as additional challengers Christy Neff and Tim Mooney.

Although defeated in the 2022 primary election by a fairly significant margin, Jason Schaber regrouped and ran again in 2024, challenging incumbent Kerr Murray while also facing off against Kevin Davidson. He performed much better in that election; however, Davidson won top billing.

I’ll post the breakdown of that election soon.
