ACT OHIO & CONSTRUCTION TRADES OHIO FOUNDATION MAXED OUT CONTRIBUTIONS FOR BEN WEBER?Reading Mode

He wants to make it clear: The Swamp Fox doesn’t have some axe to grind with any individual politician in Ohio–with the exception of Mike DeWine.

That being said, when he researches campaign contributions, he can’t help but get a little fired up.

Take, for example, our very own 86th district State Rep race.

Can someone explain why ACT Ohio and its associated Political Action Committee (PAC), the Affiliated Construction Trades Ohio Foundation PAC/PCE, has maxed out their allowable contributions to Ben Weber?

This guy is 29 years old and literally graduated law school earlier this year.

This is his first time working a full-time job.

Why is ACT Ohio–which represents 134 unions and 14 regional building trade councils–putting as much money into Ben Weber’s campaign as it is into the Ohio governor’s race? Or the Speaker of the House? Or the Democrat House Minority Leader?

If you looked at their contributions, you’d think Ben Weber was one of the most powerful and influential politicians in the state of Ohio.

To them, it appears, Ben Weber is at the same level as Vivek Ramaswamy.

But he hasn’t been elected dog catcher or worked a full-time job for a year. What gives?

Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that ACT Ohio represents all the union labor that is doing most of the work for Ohio’s data center projects.

And perhaps it has something to do with the fact that the 86th District, which consists of Union County and a portion of Marion County, is a primary target of companies like Amazon for the construction of these massive data centers that drain our energy and water resources while handing us ever increasing energy bills and diminished aquifers.

This should be a HUGE red flag to everyone in the 86th district–unless you’re in favor of having a 1 million sq ft data center for every quarter of a mile.

Unfortunately, we won’t be able to review the campaign contributions that are received between now and April until April. Lots more PAC and union money will likely be funneled into this campaign between now and then.

And it will be interesting to see if the donors change from the union PACs to the big law PACs or some other entity. Maybe it will be the GOP itself that starts writing the big checks.

Lots of shenanigans are possible when it comes to the swamp that is Ohio.

But that’s why you have the good ole Swamp Fox to expose and help make sense of things.
