MAYOR BILL COLLINS NAMES VIDYA IYENGAR AS NEW AUDITOR FOR CITY OF MARIONReading Mode

After the resignation of former Marion City Auditor Miranda Meginness (Independent), Mayor Bill Collins has appointed current Marion City Treasurer Vidya (Ramanna) Iyengar to fill Meginness’ unexpired term as Marion City Auditor.

Born in India in 1953, Iyengar graduated with a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Bangalore. She married her late husband, Shailesh Iyengar, in 1977 and moved to Marion in 1978, where she obtained employment with the Marion-Erie Credit Union, which was later transformed under her leadership tenure into the Marion Community Credit Union and then in 2020 into its current iteration as Pillar Credit Union.

Named president in 1985, she retired from her position as CEO of Pillar Credit Union on the 1st of January 2024.

A registered Republican and resident of the city’s 6th ward, she ran unopposed and was elected to the position of Marion City Treasurer in November 2025, replacing Tommy Reece and taking office on New Year’s Day.

Ms. Iyengar enters an auditor’s office that is in disarray, with the city of Marion currently struggling to navigate its way out of fiscal distress and scrutiny by the Auditor of the State of Ohio’s office.

Her current term as auditor will expire on the 1st of January 2028.

Since she was elected as a Republican, Iyengar’s former position as treasurer will be filled by the local Republican Party.
