Ohio Campaign ShenanigansReading Mode

We’ve got some swampy shenanigans orchestrated by some sour socialists going on in the race for the State Rep of the 86th District, folks–and the Swamp Fox ain’t having it!

Wezlynn Davis, a conservative candidate in this year’s Republican primary, previously challenged incumbent Tracy Richardson, who currently holds the seat but cannot run for re-election due to term limits, in the Republican primary held in March 2024.

One of the links to the Ohio Secretary of State’s website that is floating around Marion area social media pages right now shows financial contributions made to Ms. Davis’ primary campaign in 2024.

If you actually review the financials from her 2024 campaign, you can see that she received 94 contributions between 11/29/2023 and 04/26/2024 for a total of $95,365.93.

The median average contribution was $280.13. She did not receive any contributions from the Ohio House Republican Alliance, which is the political and fundraising arm of the Ohio House Republican Caucus.

Ms. Richardson, meanwhile, received 135 contributions between 07/08/2023 and 04/04/2024 for a total of $360,115.25. Of that total, $265,523.65 came from the Ohio House Republican Alliance.

For this year’s Republican primary race, which has her going up against Ben Weber and Steven Wolfe, Ms. Davis, a successful self-made businesswoman, who isn’t exactly the embraced darling of the Establishment, has made it well known that she has personally loaned her campaign a total of $250,000.

Given the amount of money used against her in the 2024 primary, this seems like both a wise and necessary move. This was disclosed on her semi-annual report filed with the Secretary of State on the 11th of July 2025. It was the only contribution disclosed for this race up to that point in time, by any of the three candidates.

This is neither scandal nor news.

Considering the source and its connection to radical leftwing political organizations, it appears to have been nothing more than a pathetic political hit piece. All three candidates will be required by the Secretary of State to submit their campaign finance reports by the deadlines listed in the image included in this post. The Swamp Fox will continue to closely monitor this race, since it impacts both Union and Marion counties. If he sees anything out of the ordinary, contribution-wise or not, he’ll let you know.
